SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Two same-sex couples from Utah took the stage at the Grammy awards show over the weekend, tying the knot in a mass wedding ceremony officiated by Queen Latifah.

Spencer Stout and Dustin Reeser of Salt Lake City exchanged vows Sunday during the televised show, along with Sean Bishop and Taylor Knuth of Ogden.

Nearly three dozen gay and straight couples married at the Staples Center in the Los Angeles, in the middle of a performance of "Same Love," a song by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis about gay acceptance.

"It was bigger than I could ever imagine and so overwhelming. When we got out there and there were all those people, Taylor starting crying," Bishop told The Salt Lake Tribune. "Then I started crying."

Bishop and Knuth were recruited for the show after posting a video of their proposal online, according to the Standard-Examiner. The two met while attending Weber State University and studying theater, and became engaged about a year ago.

Reeser and Stout gained online fame after they posted a YouTube video of their proposal, which featured a flash mob inside a Home Depot store dancing to the song "Somebody Loves You" by recording artist Betty Who.

The couple had been considering a small civil ceremony, but said they thought it would be more fun to marry at the Grammys than before a judge.

They plan to celebrate with a ceremony and reception Saturday in Salt Lake City, according to the Tribune.

Bishop and Knuth are planning a ceremony and reception later this year.
